Create and restore backups

Protect your world on Victus — create manual or scheduled backups from the Backups tab and restore them when something breaks.

Backups are your safety net against griefing, a bad plugin, a corrupted world or a mistaken version change. Victus servers have a dedicated Backups tab that snapshots your server files. Make one before any risky change (version switch, egg change, reinstall) and keep a regular schedule.

Create a backup

  1. 1Open the Backups tab.
  2. 2Click Create Backup and give it a clear name (e.g. "before 1.21 update").
  3. 3Wait for it to finish — the size depends on your world/files.
  4. 4When done you can download it or lock it so it is not auto-deleted.

There is a backup limit

Each plan allows a limited number of backups. When you hit the limit, new ones fail until you delete an old one — or "lock" the important ones so rotation cannot remove them. For extra safety also download key backups off-site.

Restore a backup

  1. 1Stop the server from the Console tab first.
  2. 2On the Backups tab, open the backup you want and choose Restore.
  3. 3Confirm — restoring OVERWRITES current server files with the backup's contents.
  4. 4Start the server and verify the world is as expected.

Restore overwrites current data

Restoring replaces your current files with the backup. If the current state has anything you want to keep, make a fresh backup (or download the files) before restoring — otherwise it is gone.

Automate it

Add a Backup task on the Schedules tab to run nightly so you always have a recent snapshot. See "Schedule automatic restarts" for how the Schedules tab works.
